St Cyril

Cyril was the Bishop of Jerusalem during a very difficult time in the early Church. It was a time when Emperor Constantine allowed people to be Christian, but lots of people didn’t know what to believe, because the Church was just getting started. Lots of people were teaching things that weren’t true about Jesus, saying that Jesus was not the Son of God. Bishop Cyril always stood up for the truth, making sure that the Catholic Church never stopped believing that Jesus was God's Son. This made people mad, because they wanted to make people believe in their wrong teaching. No matter how angry people got, Bishop Cyril made sure that only the truth was allowed in the Church.
