Sts. Jonas & Barachisius

Jonas and Barachisius were brothers and they were both monks. They lived under the rule of King Sapor II who did not like Christians at all. After the brothers heard about all the mean things the King was doing to Christians, they decided to go into the city and encourage the Christians to never stop believing in God, no matter what the King did. The brother were captured and taken to prison. They were told that they had to worship other gods, not God the Father, but they said they would never stop believing in God. Since they would never turn away from God they were treated very badly and suffered a lot for their faith, but they prayed through all their suffering and kept their hearts focused on God. They died as martyrs for their faith in God.
