St Bernadine of Siena

Growing up, Bernardine was loved by all his friends because he was always so much fun to be around.  Even though he knew how to have fun, his friends also knew that they better behave when he was around because he did not put up with anyone that tried to lead him into sin.  He really loved our Mother Mary too and he would talk to her and ask for her prayers all the time.  He had a really kind heart and was always thinking of others first.  He would give his own food away to someone who had nothing to eat.  He served the sick and dying in his town when there was a plague and lots of people were sick.  He joined the Franciscan order when he was 22 years old and he became a priest.    He wanted to help young and old people believe in God and do what was right, because so many people during that time where not living the way God wanted them to.  He asked God what he should do for these people and God told him that all he needed to do was share the “Holy Name of God” with them and that would be enough.  So Fr. Bernardine spent his days sharing the Holy Name of God with everyone around him and through this sharing, thousands of people in Italy began to believe in God again.
