St Aidan

As a young boy Aidan studied under St. Senan. He went to study in England at St. David’s monastery and stayed there for many years studying the holy words of the Bible. He later went back to Ireland and started a monastery and also became a bishop. He was known to perform many miracles and this brought many people back to the Church, as many people had left the Catholic Church in Ireland at that time. He would walk from village to village sharing the good news with all the people who would listen to him. He was a good preacher and many people came back to Jesus because of his many visits and discussions with them. The miracles he performed saved his Diocese from attack and also saved the monastery that he was studying in when he was in England. The monastery that he started in Ireland grew and spread throughout the area, many more monasteries were built. These monasteries were a place for people to go and study and grow closer to Jesus. He worked very hard until the day he died to bring people to Jesus and to rebuild the Church in Ireland.
